The method

How Cortexa measures the way you think

No vague brain-age guesses. Cortexa diagnoses your strengths, prescribes the practice that moves them, and rolls it into one transparent score you can trace right back to the source.

The loop behind every session

Diagnose where you stand, train where it counts, and watch the proof add up — then repeat.

  1. 01

    Diagnose

A short baseline measures how you think across the six domains and sets your starting CPS — no vague guesses, just your real starting point.

  2. 02

    Train daily

Each day prescribes a ~10-minute session of the modules that move your weakest domains most. Difficulty adapts in real time, so practice stays challenging without becoming discouraging.

  3. 03

    See proof

Your CPS, per-domain trajectories, streaks and milestones turn daily reps into visible, measurable progress you can actually follow.

Six domains, measured separately

Thinking isn't one thing. Cortexa tracks six distinct cognitive domains so you can see exactly where you're growing.

  • Focus

Hold attention on what matters and screen out everything that doesn't.

    e.g. Focus Sprint
  • Memory

Hold, manipulate and recall information on demand under load.

    e.g. Memory Ladder
  • Speed

Take in and act on information faster — without trading away accuracy.

    e.g. Speed Comprehension
  • Reasoning

Spot the pattern and infer the rule behind it.

    e.g. Pattern Mastery
  • Language

Encode and retrieve verbal knowledge so it actually sticks.

    e.g. Knowledge Builder
  • Numeracy

Work fluently with numbers, proportions and quick estimates.

    e.g. Quick Sums
One score

One score, fully transparent

The Cortexa Performance Score is the average of your five sub-scores on a 0–1000 scale. It's traceable — you can always see what it's built from — and it's a relative measure of your own progress, not a comparison with anyone else.

  • Your CPS is the plain average of six sub-scores — Focus, Memory, Speed, Reasoning, Language and Numeracy.
  • Every point traces back to a domain and a session, so the number is never a black box.
  • It measures you against your own past — not a population, an IQ, or a “brain age.”
  • Each module you finish updates one domain sub-score on a 0–1000 scale, blending accuracy, speed and the difficulty you reached. Your CPS is simply the mean of the five current sub-scores, so a gain in any one domain lifts it proportionally. Domains you haven't measured yet start from a provisional baseline and sharpen as you train them — there is no hidden weighting or curve.

Illustrative

Grounded in cognitive-science principles

Our modules are built on well-established principles of how cognition is trained. Here's how a few of them map to what you play.

  • Spaced retrieval

Recalling information at increasing intervals strengthens memory more than re-reading. Our recall modules cue you to retrieve, not just review.

  • Working-memory span

Holding and manipulating more items at once is trainable. Sequences grow as you succeed, nudging the edge of your span.

    In: Memory Ladder
  • Selective attention under load

Responding to the right cue while ignoring distractors sharpens focus. Pace and interference rise as your accuracy holds.

    In: Focus Sprint
  • Fluid-reasoning rule inference

Inferring the rule behind novel patterns is core to fluid reasoning. Rules get subtler as you climb, rewarding genuine insight.

What we don't claim

Honesty is part of the method. So we're just as clear about what Cortexa isn't.

  • Cortexa is a training and learning tool — not a medical or clinical product, and not a diagnosis.
  • We don't promise an IQ number, a “brain age,” or scores that transfer to unrelated real-world abilities.
  • Your CPS reflects practice on Cortexa's tasks: a measure of your progress here, honestly labelled.
